Where it all began...

This post will be where we discuss where we got the idea from, discussing it with the parents and a few pics of the warm up trip in India.

Plagued with the travelling bug since his first trip away in 2005, on return from a 6 month backpacking expedition around Africa in 2010, Pete managed to convince Jon to join him on the his next mission.The mutual love for motorbikes and sheer dislike for travel by bus, there was only ever one choice of transport for this trip...... Two 400cc dirt bikes and over 40,000 miles to cover. He wasn't lying when he told him that this really was going to the big the one. 

This is not your standard backpacking trip and has required some serious ground work and preparation. At the first available opportunity the boys headed out to India to have a warm up trip through the Himalayas on a couple of old clapped out Enfields. Not only did the trip offer an insight in to handling ill equipped bikes over some heavy duty off road terrain, but it also gave them a feel for being quite literally in the middle of nowhere and having to deal with mechanical problems.  

Equipped with nothing more than there motorbike gear, the guys headed up and over mountain passes as high as 5500m.
